DISCOVERING | Veterans Fishing Day & Bear Baiting

Episode 148 - The annual South Shore Fishing Association Veterans Fishing Day was held the first Saturday in August and was another successful event. 61 captains volunteered their time and boats and took 125 veterans out for a free day of fishing on Lake Superior.

And a Michigan Congressman recently proposed the "Don't Feed the Bears Act of 2025" to try and prohibit bear baiting as a means of hunting bears on federal land. I talk to outdoor writer Richard P. Smith and the Michigan DNR about the practice of bear baiting and why it's an important method of hunting black bear here in the U.P.
