DISCOVERING | Manoomin - Wild Rice | The Manoominator

Episode 13 - Manoomin, also known as Wild Rice, is an ancient species of grain-producing grass native to the Great Lakes area. Once plentiful in places like the U.P., wild rice beds have dwindled due to habitat loss and degraded water quality, among other factors. In this episode we learn about the plant, the traditional Anishinaabe harvesting and processing methods, and stop in the annual Wild Rice Camp in Baraga. And we see the new MANOOMINATOR in action.
