Episode 126 - Tonight an up close look at the new study to research factors limiting moose population growth in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I follow a team from the Michigan DNR, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and Northern Michigan University as they capture and collar 20 moose this winter. This study comes exactly 40 years after moose were re-introduced to the Western Upper Peninsula. And I talk to others about the significance of moose here in the U.P.

Next week we go behind the scenes on day 2 of the project, learn more about what these collars will tell us, chat with the helicopter pilot and talk about a hunting proposal from the public that helped lead to this study.

Discover the U.P.
